What’s On

This year, the timetable will be updated as we go, in order to make any adjustments required to adhere to Government and Guild guidelines.
At the moment, all sessions will be hosted online. We aim to bring back some in person sessions throughout the year, so you can practice your skills on our equipment!

WEEK 0

Monday 21/09/20  – Welcome Back! - Online

Information about everything that has happened since we last saw you, then going straight into a patient assessment activity! This will be a great way to brush off the cobwebs and start the new term, no matter how much first aid you've been able to do over the past 6 months.

Thursday 24/09/20 - New Members Session - Online

This will be your one-stop shop for finding out everything you need to know about the society and joining SJA. The first 30 mins will be a taster session covering some basic (but lifesaving!) first aid, then we will go onto a meet the committee and Q&A session.

WEEK 1

Monday 28/09/20 – Back to Basics - Online

Whether you have never done first aid, or are an Advanced First Aider (AFA) that has been out of action for a couple of months, it's always good to look over your basics. We will cover SJA's favorite acronyms (primary survey), CPR with an AED and heart attacks. For our more experienced members, our UM will recap some medgases.

WEEK 2

Monday 05/10/20 – Secondary Survey, Shock and Sepsis - Online

What could follow a primary survey? A secondary survey, of course! This session really is what it says on the tin.

WEEK 3

Monday 12/10/20 – Emergency First Aid - Online

What would you do, if your friend started having an asthma attack? What about if they went into anaphylactic shock? Nobody wants that to happen, but in an emergency you want to know what to do.

In this session, Izzy will be covering anaphylaxis, asthma, seizures and choking, complete with some stories about cat seizures....
